Todavía habrá quien crea que "los ochenta" son solamente esa cosa amorfa que venden como tal en los recopilatorios al uso y donde pugnan por sonar Madonna, Europe, Spandau Ballet, Tina Turner, Depeche Mode, A-HÁ, Human League, Michael Jackson, Opus, Limahl, Wham!, Cock Robin, Gloria Gaynor, Flash & The Pan, Yes haciendo el hortera, OMD, Soft Cell, Alphaville, Yazoo, Visage, etc, etc. ¡Pues no!, hubo muchísimo más.
En lo que sigue voy a confeccionar un listado de algunos de los discos de pop y rock fechados entre el 78 y el 90 (de vinilo, claro está, aún no se utilizaba el formato CD ni mucho menos existía internet) que he ido guardando con el paso de los años por su valor sentimental y porque los considero buenos discos, algunos raros, otros rarísimos, y unos cuantos más conocidos o reconocidos por la crítica especializada.
Si encontráis alguno de estos 200 discos en una tienda o feria de coleccionismo estoy seguro de que no os defraudará, pero para afinar un poco más voy a poner un OM digamos que generoso en aquellos que considero "Obra Maestra" (La ciudad o nación se pone solo para informar sobre el lugar de prensado del ejemplar en cuestión. No hace falta recordar aquí que el prensado de discos en España ha sido siempre de echarse a llorar).

Se oyen voces que auguran que el Compact Disc va a desaparecer en poco tiempo. Algunos aún recordamos su asalto al poder en 1990. Hubo unos meses de cierto despiste, todavía recuerdo los vinilos arrinconados en una amplia sección de la planta baja de un Madrid Rock en pleno reciclaje mientras miles de nerviosas pirañas-cds se los merendaban a velocidad de vértigo.
A mí es un formato que aún hoy me gusta por el sonido, por la estética, por el tamaño, por todo. ¡Viva el negro azabache elegante del vinilo! ¡Abajo el plasticucho y el metalicucho apartamoscas de los compactos!
Por otra parte, el daño que el CD hizo en los clubes de medio mundo está todavía por contar. Sólo los dj´s profesionales han sido capaces de rebelarse y seguir utilizando vinilo en sus sesiones. El resto de los mortales sucumbió al empuje de los nuevos formatos, CD, mp3, itunes..., con lo que una parte importante de los pequeños dj´s desaparecieron. En Madrid había cuando menos decenas de ellos y muy buenos, en Chueca, en Malasaña, en Alonso Martínez, en Aurrerá, en Vallecas, en Pueblo Nuevo, incluso en Orense, en Prosperidad, en todos los barrios me atrevería a decir. Ahora uno "que pasaba por allí" (el dueño, un camarero, Nadie) pone la música, tan simple como darle a un botón. Con lo que en vez de ganar, creo que hemos perdido y mucho en la calidad musical de la noche madrileña.
