La revista Rolling Stone (la americana, claro), cada vez más peligrosamente cercana a lo que conocemos por prensa rosa, le dedica la portada de su último número a algunos de los agraciados autores de las que según sus colaboradores son las 100 Greatest Guitar Songs Of All Time, las cien canciones que cuentan con los solos o los riffs de guitarra más emblemáticos y representativos de la historia del rock.
“Un riff irresistible; un solo o jam que te eleva cada vez que lo oyes; el último acorde poderoso que te pega a la pared y hace que golpees el ‘play’ una y otra vez. Todas las canciones aquí despiertan esas emociones. Pero estos son los mejores momentos de la guitarra en el rock por lo que hay encerrado en el interior de esas notas: hambre, furia, desesperación y alegría, a menudo a la vez. Encabezando la lista está el “Johnny B. Goode” de Chuck Berry. Hendrix, Cream, The Kinks, Van Halen o The Beatles entre los diez primeros. “Eight Miles High” de The Byrds en el puetso 56; “Walk Don’t Run” de The Ventures en el 82; “Take It Or Leave It” de The Strokes en el 71; “Smell Like Teen Spirit” de Nirvana cerrando la primera decena… Abierta está la polémica.
