La multinacional Warner a través de su sello Rhino pondrá en circulación a mediados del próximo mes de noviembre una nueva antología de The Smiths.
Habrá dos ediciones del disco, una sencilla que reunirá en un solo CD hasta 23 éxitos de la banda (básicamente las caras A de sus singles, y alguna canción -“Still Ill” y “You Just Haven’t Earned It Yet Baby” que la banda planeó en su momento editar como sencillo aunque al final no acabara pasando), y otra deluxe que sumará a ese primer CD un segundo disco que incluye rarezas, caras B de singles, temas sólo editados en formato 12” y grabaciones en directo, entre ellas una versión del “What’s The World” de James grabada en la sala Barrowlands de Glasgow, y “I Keep Mine Hidden”, la última canción que la banda grabó antes de su separación oficial en 1987.
Morrissey, que ya hace meses se refería en términos no muy amistosos a esta recopilación, se ha limitado a ponerle título -“The Sound Of The Smiths”- a esta nueva antología. Johnny Marr, por su parte, ha supervisado el proceso de remasterización del álbum, tarea de la que se ha encargado John K. Davies.
